How to Setup a Product or Manage the Product in Opencart

Opencart is an open-source eCommerce store and offers hassle facility to manage the complete eCommerce store.

In this blog, we will explain the product setup process for those who wish to have their Opencart eCommerce store or already possess a system and be facing difficulties to manage the products in the admin panel.

Let’s start the process to manage your products in the Opencart Administrative Panel by login to the backend:
Login to your Administrative Panel or Backend. You can access your Admin at
  1. You must have been given the username & password from your Opencart Development Company.
  2. Enter your Username & Password.

After the successful login to the admin panel, you will see the “Dashboard” of your Opencart eCommerce website.

You will see many options on the left-hand side navigation, you just need to follow: Catalog => Products

Once you are in the products section you will be able to manage the existing products or can also add new products to your store. When you will click on the products tab, it will lead to a new screen and that would look alike below image.

1. You see the checkboxes on the left side. If you wish to perform a bulk action for e.g. select multiple products in a single click, go to the products tab and select multiple checkboxes (only whom you want to delete).
2. Click on the “+” button to add a new product to your Online Opencart eCommerce system.
3. If you wish to Create a Duplicate project. First, select the product and then go ahead to click on the duplicate/copy button.
4. Select any product(s) while selecting the checkbox in order to delete product(s) from your store.
5. By clicking on this pencil sign to edit/modify any product in order to update or enable/disable product.
6. Want to find any product in the admin, you are also given a filter to find the product for further action.

Add A New Product:

Products can be seen or accessed under the catalog section as described in the previous image.

When you will upload your product you will see many options to enter the information, but it is not necessary to upload all information and can enter only mandatory information such as:

- Product Name
- Product Description
- Product Images
- Product Model
- Product Price
- Quantity
- Status (once you made the product enable in the admin will be displayed in the front shop and be available for the end users)
- Discount
- SEO of the product
- Special Option for a Special categorized Customer’s group.

You can enter as much as information you want to upload regarding your products. Mentioned in the image below

Opencart is a pretty handy eCommerce store for website owners where you can find most of the features inbuilt. It is also very much expandable eCommerce store and it still remains user-friendly.
